Each August, the new apprentices are officially welcomed at the Brueder Schlau Group headquarters as well as the Hammer Specialty Stores and Schlau Crafts Markets during the Apprentice Starter Weeks to start their training. After two years of the pandemic, it was a pleasure to finally have our trainees reunite back on site.

More than 270 apprentices started their very personal career paths within the Group on August 1, 2022. Whether at the Hammer Specialty Store, Schlau Crafts Market, in logistics or central administration – a varied and multifaceted professional future is about to begin for them.

At this year’s Hammer and Schlau Apprentice Starter Weeks, trainees from the various regions arrived. In two locations – for Hammer in Hanover and for Schlau in Petershagen – they were able to get to know each other, as well as their respective managers, during seminars on etiquette and sales. Various activities afterwards – for example laser tag, a city rally, table tennis or go-karting – helped to bond the team together. A group barbecue and burger buffet were a delicious end to four exciting days. Everyone came together for an especially exciting first day at the main headquarters as well. In addition to various team and trust exercises, the new interns got to know their trainee mentors. Consisting of second- and third-year apprentices, they are on hand to offer advice and support to the new arrivals.

“We are always happy to welcome the next generation of trainees to the group. A varied working environment and a terrific team pave the way for a great career with us,” says Kristin Heine, an employee in the personnel training department at Brueder Schlau Group, “With a warm welcome to all trainees: we wish you a fantastic training period!”
